Scalloped Potatoes and Ham

This is an old favorite and a staple for family dinners or just a nice, cozy weeknight dinner. Leftover baked ham makes this an easy fix!

Back to Main Courses
6 large potatoes
1 medium onion
1 ½ cups cut-up ham (leftovers from baked ham work great)
1 .T butter
1 T. flour
1 c. milk
½ t. salt
¼ t. white pepper
½ c. grated cheddar cheese

Peel potatoes and slice thinly. Finely chop onion.

Layer 2 qt. casserole dish with potatoes, onion, then ham. Repeat twice more. Top with potatoes.
Melt butter in small saucepan. Add flour and blend thoroughly. Slowly add cold milk whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
Cook on medium until sauce thickens. Add salt and pepper.

Pour cream sauce over layers in casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Sprinkle grated cheese on top and bake an additional 15 minutes.
